DRTYFN and WALC:
You two are the ODD COUPLE.
You agree on 95% of the things.
You you two quibble endlessly about the 5% you disagree on.
Own up to it. You two should be a couple.
You sound like a couple. In a bad marriage that is.

I do not consider the video a depiction of an atrocity. It is wrong... but do NOT rise to the level of an atrocity.
To say they do... downgrades true atrocities; such as, using nerve gas on whole towns, tossing people into wood chippers, etc...

I'm not just referring to military records. I know most chickenhawks don't have any. I'm referring to any accomplishments, in your lives.
Please expound.
TIA.

Which accomplishments would that be? Getting paid to lie in court?

I'm glad to hear that you have such respect for the Constitution of the United States.

No where in the Constitution does it provide for lying. You are just too stupid to defend your clients without resorting to flat out lying.

Yes, I've heard of Duckworth, BUT, the current subject is your shitass attitude and astonishing stupidity. No matter how many times you attempt to divert attention from yourself you're ultimately going to still have the spotlight shining upon you.

No, we're not going to play that game. You're not going to turn this into a Army vs. Marine issue. The only way to argue the point is to attack the USMC and I'm not going to lower myself to that.
The fact that you would say no offense while makeing an offensive insult and then making a joke about berets and adding a smiley face doesn't make it all right. It just shows your character or lack there of. Character is what you do behind closed doors or behind the anonymous wll of the internet.
Let's get back to facts:
Fact: This thread is about an incident involveing the British Army.
Fact: It had nothing to do with the American Army or Marines until you made your insult.
Fact: No reasonable person would think My Lai or LT Calley were funny.
There was no reason whatsoever to insult the Army like that, it was uncalled for. And your attempt to blow this off by makeing sad jokes and trying to misdirect it into an Army vs. Marine fight is pitiful.
You make me sick.

I agree we are supposed to be better.
Sometimes though I tend to really wonder whose side the press is on. I don't think they realize how many Amercian lives they cost by fanning the flames.

Well said...especially the part where you said "It’s about you acting like an *******." WALC...it's dirt nap time.

quote:

Originally posted by tanklizard:
And once again you’re trying to misdirect blame away from yourself. Both of your “apologies” lack substance because you either tacked on a disclaimer or apologized for something else. No one cares that you said “Marines have more discipline.” If that was all you said I wouldn’t have batted an eye. On the other hand “Remember My Lai” and “Thanks for sharing LT Calley” aren’t funny, never were funny, and never will be funny. It’s not a joke it’s an insult, even “when joking privately with other Marines.” When I pointed this out in a professional manner you responded in a manner more fitting a 12 year old in high school.
Through out this thread you’ve done your best to deflect attention away from the point we’ve all been making.
It isn’t about Army vs. Marines.
It isn’t about accomplishments or service records.
And it definitely isn’t about Congresswoman Duckworth (trying to hide behind her was a new low.)
It’s about you acting like an *******.
This is the first time I’ve had the displeasure of running into you. But from the other poster’s responses this isn’t the first or even second time you’ve acted like this. And so the unwritten rule gets enforced again:
If you act like an ******* you’ll get treated like one.
The time for apologies passed long ago. You weren’t posting in anger or trying to be funny. You were belittling other people to stroke your ego. As I’ve said before, you contribute nothing to this forum other than being the latest troll to get stomped. Again I’d like you to invite you to take you and your attitude problem and leave.

Agreed, it isn’t even remotely funny. Neither is calling you LT Calley.
In fact, Walc making these insults in a thread that has nothing to do with American soldiers is down right childish and immature. It’s a slap in the face to myself and every other soldier here. That someone who claims to have been a service member would insult other service members like this for no reason is disgusting.
As an American Soldier I have the utmost respect for the USMC.
As an American Soldier I have zero respect for Walc.

Wow, first time I've looked at this thread. I'll step in for a couple of comments.
Walc: I have so much pride in having served as a Marine that I rarely miss the opportunity to come to the aide of a fellow Marine. I can’t here. I have a war record, but the details are really none of your business - even if I disagree with your views. I know, and know of, many who served in other services and many who never served in the military at all whom have displayed courage and conscientiousness as great as any person can show. Being in the service doesn’t make us better. Just sometimes more fully tested. My service definitely made me wiser. But only wiser than I had been before; not necessarily wiser than others. It still moves me when someone appreciates my service, but I've never bragged about it or belittled anyone who didn't serve. I hope I never do. Your record may be somehow more distinguished than mine, but, among those exposed to your comments, you have squandered the tremendous amount of respect you might have otherwise garnered. Even an accomplished hero who acts like a condescending bully and braggart really doesn't seem much like a hero. The people in here pushing back at you aren't the ones who are marginalizing your past - you are the one doing that. Maybe you don’t agree, but by my observations, most Marines generally are proud, but also somewhat humble.
I assume the lawyer jokes are just that, but I would say: There are about 800,000 lawyers in the USA. Just like auto mechanics, doctors, small businessmen, engineers, etc ..., there are a lot of bad ones, a lot of decent ones, and a lot of great ones. And I mean that both in terms of competence and ethics. They span the spectrum.

MH,
I always thought that I could have no more respect for our servicemen than I already do, but your comments just elevated that respect to a whole new level.
Sincerest thanks,
Pete
