Default Dash problems

I have a 2004 H2 and am trying to get the navigation stero out and I can't get the dash piece off it seems to be caught down on the bottom where the shifter is but I can't seem to see what is holding it in. Does anyone know what I need to do to get the cover off so I can get to the stereo? Thanks

Yes there's two Phillips screws at the bottom of that cover. They're hidden behind the shifter/cup holder cover assembly. The tranny shifter handle needs to be removed first. To do that you need to back out the torx set screw (don't totally remove it), and lift up and pull the shift handle off. After that the cover plate can be pried up and off, it's held in place with clips.

BTW, the factory service manual says the whole center console needs to be removed, but I was able to accomplish this without doing that.

well this post if from 3 days ago so I am guessing you got it out by now but for future doers....

yes, as Summitup says, remove those 2 screws and then it's pretty wedged in there, you just have to have to pull it out, it's a bit scary at first, but stuff a cloth or something in the bottom so you wont scratch it and keep a yanking...
