Just buy new steering wheel butttons. They are pretty cheap. Cannot remember exactly how much but I am thinking like $30/ea at the most. I have replaced because of the backlites going out in the past.

If your replace the steering wheel controls, the BEST way to replace them without damaging your wheel or the connectors on the harness is to remove the wheel. After you remove the wheel, remove the plastic housing on the back of the wheel (2 torx screws) This will give you access to the wire harness. Move the harness towards each side of the wheel as you replace the switches on that side and you will have plenty of wire to pull up to give you room to get to the VERY small plastic clips on the harness. To get the airbag out so you can remove the wheel, there is a small hole on either side of the steering wheel. You can insert a small flathead screwdriver on each side and the bag will pop out with slight pressure. One wire clip and one bolt and a tug on the wheel is all it takes. Knowledge of how to handle air bags safely is needed so leave it to a pro if needed!

Really all you need is a small flat head screw driver and a small pick. Use the small flathead to pry out the button from the wheel. Then use the pick to release the small wire harness. its pretty simple and should take no more than a minute or 2 to do. Just be gentle helping that button un seat from the wheel not to damage the foam on the wheel.
