Hi, I was wondering how to remove those roof rack bars on top of the Hummer? It first seems so easy by just unscrewing the thing and slide down to the end of the top and take it out. But at the end of it, there's a lock thingy.. and I have no idea how to take it out. Any pointers?

You must remove the plastic "thingy" at the rear of the rails. I used a medium flat blade screw driver to pry them up. As you gently do this you will see where the grabbing points are for the end piece. Use care with these as they are easy to break.
The dealership told me to "just pull harder" on them. They were right.

Thanks KenP. I tried that as I found some threads about it (after I posted my question) but i was afraid I'd break it. I pry it up then stick my finger into that hole and pull it up... but it never got off.. until i gave up.
Maybe I should "pull it a little harder".

Anyone know if the SUT is the same? Or do I have to remove the steel channel they slide though? I have running lights pretty much at both ends.

To answer my own question:
Take the rear marker light off...then there are two small torq head bolts, remove those and press on the small tab that is holding the peice to the channel system. Do the same to the other side, and move them out of the way. Slide the bars all the way back evenly. Boom - done.

...and last step, replace factory crossbars with Gobi rack.

I have a regular 03 H2 ... do I need to remove the rear lights? I tried pulling on the little channel thing too and it seems if I pull too hard it will break. I tried unscrewing the torque head bolt in the little hole and that thing is on really tight.

And no, on an '03 (or any SUV) you don't need to remove any marker lights to remove the roof racks.
