Re: service 4WD
I had the same thing happen this summer. Put it into 4low and drive it around a little bit and 4 lo lock and do the same. It's from lack of use in low range.

Re: service 4WD
I had the service 4WD come on and now I cannot shift into 4LO. I don;t have any codes popping up right now but will try it again when it comes back on. If you resolve this, shoot me some information if possible.

Re: service 4WD
I've had this light once in both of my H2s. In the '03 it was solved as per the dealer suggestion of shifting from 4L to 4H 15 times - does something to the contacts in the transfer case. When my '06 got the light I tried the same thing and it didn't work and the dealer found my 4L switch had gone bad on the dashboard.

Re: service 4WD
I had exact same issue and ended up having the dealer fix it. Ended up being the switch as well. At first it was intermittent but then the light on my dash kept going out and and after trying all the suggestions, I took it in and they replaced the switch. I think it was ~$350

'05 with 84,606 miles...Service 4WD popped up yesterday. Goes into 4HI and 4LO fine.
Dropped it off at the dealer last night...will post back later today when I get the results.

Dealer 'traced out 4 wheel drive circuit' and 'found internal open in 4 wheel drive mode switch'
$150.28 for new switch and I'll do the install tomorrow...should fix it all up.
