Default AC Delco battery lasted 8+ years

My stock AC Delco battery in my 05 is starting to crank a little slower so I decided to swap it before winter. Actually it was still going which is excellent for a battery so I wanted another AC Delco. Come to find out AC Delco's new group 79 battery is only 840CCA not the 880 that was stock. After looking around I found a Bosch from PepBoys for $150 and it's the full 880CCA. Probably wouldn't have made a big difference but 40 amps is a lot.

Yes, 40 amps is alot when you are dealing with an amp pig like our rigs.

Have you tried NAPA. Personally I am big on their warranty and batteries (much better then the Optima batteries I used to use.)
