I need to replace the wimpy horn on the Hummer. Any suggestions for the upgrade? I'd like to just use one that works off the existing horn and junk the wimpy one.

RI,

If your asking if this can be set up to be operated by your current horn switch, the answer is yes. But it is an elaborate set up. For around 10% of that price, you can get airhorns from Hella, Fiamm, etc which have small high speed compressors, multiple horns and get more attention than the ones you are contemplating. I had 5 differently sized (different frequency) small horns and 2 compressors in my Tahoe. I routed the tubing so that both compressors fed all 5 horns. Lets just say no one ignored my horn.

RI,

I hav ethat exact horn in my rig and it took the dealer only about 30 minutes to install. It is very simple and it was specifically designed to go in the H2 so it fits perfectly. It comes with a switch so that it can be wired such that you can use your factory horn until the switch is flipped and then you will get the airhorn. The airhorn sounds great and the best part is, the self-contained unit has an air compressor that you can use to air up your front tires etc. as easily as the rear compressor can do the rears without some super-long hose. I would definitely recommend it!

Just my two cents.

Damn, Jonas, those must be some wicked-powerful farts. When I had the 5 air horns and 2 small compressors in my Tahoe, it sounded like a freight train>

WB, that's perfect. Just what the doctor ordered. I wonder if I could sneak that in the truck without the wife finding out.

Even if you could sneak that past her, I think the first time you hit the horn button, she'll notice the difference! (As well as all your neighbors)

Does any know how installation is on that thing (if it is difficult/easy, etc). I'm thinking about picking one of those up but not sure if I can install it myself

I guess you'd have to mount the tank in the rear of the truck, inside. And where to put the horns? Is that thing legal? I know some train horns aren't.

Can you tell I'm really thinking about it?

Ken,

You can mount the compressor in the engine bay, mount the tank in between the frame rails in the rear and also plumb it for regular air fittings to air the tires faster than the stock compressor. I have a 5 gallon air tank that I am going to mount one day along with a compressor and will buy just the horns to add to the system if I ever get the air system done.

This looks like a good system: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14932&item=5767654 800&rd=1

Paragon, that one's alot more money. But it does have the separate compressor which would make mounting it easier. The one above his mounted together. Well, maybe they come apart.

I think it was nixed last night when I was laughing while listening to it. The copilot heard it and said something about lawsuits, wrecks.... I don't know...
