Default Intimidated by Engine Compartment

I just opened the engine compartment of my 2006 Hummer for the first time. I had planned on doing the coolant bypass at the throttle body....just as I had on my 2003 Suburban..

I just shut the hood and said f*** it!

Obviously, you can't work on the engine from the front, and it's a long reach from the side........I guess you need a stepladder too. Maybe I'll get used to this, but I never thought it would be so difficult to get in there.

Do H2 mechanics climb up into the engine compartment? I have new respect for the people working on their H2s!!

Be thankful for so much room in the engine compartment. There are many cars out there that have no room and leave your knuckles begging for the larger compartment.

May I ask, what is a coolant bypass? And what does it do for the car?

Beware that those gains on the dyno chart also were contributed by a ported throttle body and EGR mod as noted on the dyno chart.

Anything to get the air temp down is a good thing. I use it even on 99 Silverado. It should in theory work. It is hard for Me to tell as I did not take a temp reading of throttle body with hot water running through it and one after.
If You are up north I would not recommend eliminating it. It helps with real cold starts.
