I'm dreaming of a big plate of kim chee tako poke, aren't you? Yumbo!
Start with a fresh tako (Hawai'ian word for octopus).

Do lots of interesting stuff to it then add seaweed, Japanese red pepper sauce, sea salt and a few other mystery ingredients and you get ...
OMG, this stuff is so good!

What's it taste like? Hmmm. Tough to describe.
When mixed with the other stuff (BTW, poke [po-key like hokey] means, roughly, mixed-up in HI) it's spicy and full of flavor. When cooked and plain, it's pretty plain.
Don't eat it without cooking -- kinda like chewy loogies, all slippery and slimy.
Some of the legs of the octupus above got chopped and made into poke. Other legs were marinated then BBQed whole. Drop a whole leg on your plate and now you're talking about tentacles looking back at ya!

You pick mushrooms in the wild? I guess you have to know what you're doing so you don't end up eating a belly full of psilocybin.

VT, try this one. I'm sitting at a restaurant waiting for my meal and out comes a lobster on a platter. Think this sounds good, huh? So did I until I realized when they set it down at the table next to me that it's tail had been twisted completely around, cut open and the damn thing was still clawing at the people while they ate it!! Sushi is one thing but that's ridiculous.
I lost my appetite.

That is just not right. Damn! I love Maine lobster but eating one alive? Sounds not only mean, but nasty.
