It also lets you close the windows/sunroof after you've shut off the engine but before you remove the key (I think). </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
No you can remove the key. Everything (accessories)stays on till you open the door.
Basically it allows you to operate the accessory power ports after the engine is off. Some have auto shut-offs if the battery starts to die. I'm sure some on here can offer a more technical answer if you like. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Any answer is good and technical to a newbie like me So basically it's serves as a convenience to do things when engine is off but not necessary ? Reason I am askin is I'm trying to get a wire harness for an aftermarket stereo without having to get the PAC-OS2 module.
Thanks for all your replies
There is also another feature called Battery Rundown Protection and Inadvertent Power, where the BCM monitors the courtesy lamps with the ignition turned Off. So, if you leave your courtesy lamps on, and the BCM senses no movement of any of the door switches (open/closing of doors) in a twenty minute period, it will turn off all the courtesy lamps until ignition switch is turned on (or in some vehicles, if a door switch input is received...not sure about the H3 on the door switch input).
