Will there be any modifications made to the 2006 H2? I'm planning on getting the 2006 model with the 4 yr/50,000 warranty, and any new improvements that may come with it. The local rep said he hasn't heard of any new changes in store for the '06 and that the 2006 will be identical to the 2005. He also said that the release date for the '06 has been pushed back to Nov - Dec 2005, possibly early 2006. Thanks!

Same question here:

I am really considering the employee discount for a 2005 SUT (*yeah, yeah, I know - "pull the trigger...)

Not trying to be too "trigger happy," can anyone comment on the following that would make me wait for 2006:

1) Displacement on demand engine modification for better gas mileage

2) Better DVD NAV system that plays CDs while utilizing the NAV

3) Interior enhancements including leather detail like the H3

Queen, or anyone else in the know care to comment for a long time forum member and die hard Hummer fan (and hopefully owner soon).

Thanks!

The 06's are going to be out next month, imho. Otherwise, they wouldn't be pushing to get rid of their 05's.

Not sure if this has been posted, or not. From GM-Trucks.com:

GM cancels next generation SRX and H2 refresh
Thursday, 24 March 2005
The H2 was a hot seller when it first came out, but recently it’s been losing quite a bit of its steam and momentum. Sales have been down significantly this year compared to previous years, even with the introduction of the SUT. GM-TC has gained access to an internal GM memo from non-other than Bob Lutz himself. It’s an interesting look into the world of GM and just how much trouble the automaker is in. Unfortunately for the H2 and SRX, it seems each of their refreshes have been put on hold. Not good news for two ill selling models…

"To: Vehicle Line Executives

As part of our efforts to address the current business situation we are
facing today, we have had to make some difficult product portfolio
decisions.

As a result, we are canceling all vehicles planned off of the Zeta
architecture. Since the recent announcement of the Global Zeta Development
Team and Gene Stefanyshyn's Global VLE appointment has been widely covered
by the media, it is important to proactively position this decision
internally and externally. The message should be clear, we are not
abandoning rear-wheel-drive vehicles and we will continue to evaluate our
future RWD plans.

In addition, we are canceling the Hummer H2 MCE* and GMT361/371
right-hand-drive vehicle and delaying the GMT267 Cadillac SRX. There will
be other reductions in concept and show vehicles, SVA/HPVO* activities and
some annual discretionary content.

These cancellations and delays allow us to realign resources to accelerate
some of our key strategic high-volume product launches.

It is very important that you communicate these decisions to your teams,
and that work stop immediately on the programs affected.

We find ourselves in tough times, but with the entire team working
together, we can get through them.

Thanks for your continued support."

Bob Lutz

* SVA/HPVO stands for Special Vehicle Assembly(?)/High Performance Vehicle Operations and MCE is mid-cycle enhancement.

So basically I read that as the 2006 will be the same truck as the 2005 with a better warranty, right?

1) haven't heard
2) not untill MCE(delayed but will happen)
3) same as above

The MCE will happen because of electrical system changes to the next gen GM p-ups/suvs. But I can't give out a time frame.

A 7" round opening offers unlimited potential for fabulous lighting. You can get HID's on many vehicles retailing for about 1/2 the cost of an H2. While they should be standard on any H2, there is no justification for not offering them as an option.

**** I just bought my h2 if they changed the body style I'd be pissed as now I'd have a 3 week old truck with the "old" body style.

You might as well get the Employee Discount right now. You could get an extended warranty to match up with the '06 warranty and still be under what you'd pay for a brand new one.
