Purchased Stant 11591 for my '05SUV. Seemed to go on/off OK. Today I received a "tighten gas cap" message, then check engine light came on.

Can someone confirm this is the correct part number and will the check engine light reset after re-installing factory cap?

Thanks..

10511 is the correct Stant P/N, or you can order GM's own 10326376

The computers on your H2 are smart, however they are not smart enough to know for sure if your gas cap is tight or not. It sends that message when it fails a certain evap test, where it determines there is a large system leak, which 9 times out of 10 is caused by a loose gas cap, not tight gas cap, or wrong gas cap. The light will go off after 2 consecutive driving cycles where the computer runs this evap test and the vehicle passes. So, depending on your driving habits, this could happen in a day, or a few days.
