Apparently my other thread offended someone..
But back to the discussion.
It was posted that the H3 had the best approach, breakover, departure, etc.. in its class; and there was a comment on Chrysler (I won't mention the hated brand) was coming out with something as an '07 model which may be in the same class. I'm not aware of anything new other than the redesigned wrangler. That wouldn't be considered a mid-size SUV, would it?
Does GM plan on an H3SUT?
I asked about IFS -v- SFA (that could have been the reason for the deletion). Is SFA really an insignifigant feature? Would the capabilities of the H3 be improved by the addition of an SFA?
How about the rear leaf springs. I drive a coil-sprung vehicle and really don't have any clue about leafs.

As far as what's coming in '07. It's a very watered down version of the concept Rescue. Yes, there will be a new wrangler also. But this is why you don't have your cherokee any more.
Why exactly do you think the H3 needs SFAs? Just because other vehicles do. I am getting tired of saying this, but a vehicle is the SUM of it's parts. It cannot be gauged by individual components. The H3, like the H2, has traction control which changes the dynamics of the situation. By being able to apply torque to the tire with the most traction, it will continue it's movement forward. The other front tire need not be on the ground. This is just one aspect but is part of an example of why.
Read about the Jeep Hurrican concept. Go look at higher end ATVs and you'll get an idea of where suspensions can go. Solid axles are at the end of their lifespan and can not be improved upon any more. Independently sprung suspensions are what is being designed and tested now because it offers the most promise for even better ability.

Both Landrover and now Jeep have switched to IFS.
Does that tell you something?
Yes, they are designing for the road riding comfort of the majority, but a properly designed IFS can work well.
I've seen some IFS Toyotas on some pretty knarly trails in the past.

Don't you agree the sra is the way to go as in hummers. Jeep is playing catch-up to a segment they owned. It is going to be fun to see the new products. With the sucess of the H3 the H4 will come to market in a Liberty/Wrangler style of vehicle but Gm will need to feel good about Hummer. You have 130 dealers investing millions in showrooms. Hte Hummer truck (h2 full box) is next along with the H2,H3 Alpha, then the H4. By by Buick, Pontiac, Isuzu, Hail Hummer.

I have no real opinion on IFS -v- SFA.
The Wrangler is planned to stay SFA while the rest of the line is obviously IFS.
I was browsing the hummer.com site and can't really find anything on the interior.
Does it have 3 rows of seats? What is it's towing capability? It comes stock with 33's?

Unfortunately it does not come with a third row seat. Really wish it did but it would probably get in my way more than be useful. If you get the adventure series or the off road suspension it does come stock with 33"s. Don't recall the tow capacity but check out this site for more info.
