Does anyone have factory sliders (rocker protection) with the four removable steps? Do the sliders decrease gound clearance or are they flush with the existing low points? Are they substantial or cosmetic? How easy do the steps install and remove? So easy they're a theft risk? I'm wondering if it might be better to wait for the aftermarket.

The factory (OEM) rocker protection is nice. it lowers the ground clearance a little but minimal maybe 2 inches at most right below the doors.

There are two tubes and they are not cosmetic they are tuff and heavy an will protect.

The U steps have 4 studs welded securely to the steps. You put the studs through 4 holes in the bars themselves. They can go on and off very quickly. They are secured with 4 bolts - I use just two. You can take them on and off in about 3 minutes each with a ratchet.

They bars fit to the factory frame bolts just great. So easy install except they are heavy. Have a friend help so you don't have to pay the dearlership.

The steps could easily be stolen and they are expensive I don't worry about it though. I think most people would guess they are attached more securely.

I know that PIAA makes a lock that goes on the end of fog lights to defer theft. I wonder if this would work? The diameter is pretty large though.

Check out my website for more information and pictures.

There are some aftermarket alreay made by Manik. They are considerably cheaper but I heard only a single bar and not as strong. I have seen them on h2parts.com.
