H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
Well in for my second day of service, as I keep seeing about a 1/2 in. lean to the left. It's really annoying. I hope the dealer this time can fix this!
I found only one thread on this:
http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...highlight=lean
Does everyone have this problem, or is it only with some H3's? It's hard for me to believe that this is how the truck was engineered.

Re: H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
Mine leans a bit, but then I look at every GM pickup truck made, and they all appear to lean to the left. So, it doesn't bother me. If it did, I would just ask Opra to ride along with me, and then it would drag on the right.

Re: H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
I guess I have missed the whole lean to the left thing. I had a GMC Sierra (02) and never noticed. I did notice the 5.3L clicking at 18K, but GM said that was ALL normal.

Re: H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
if your a rightwinger like me some one is probably trying to get you to lean left
could this be because the offset of the front diff . the a-arms set different because of this and the fuel tank is also on the left . before adjusting my front t-bars i had 1/2 inch more travel on right side . i turned both 2 full turns and gained 1 inch on rt side and about 3/4 on left side . still less travel on left than right about 1/2 to 3/4 inch .

I haven't seen the H3 service manual, but typically GM will put trim height specifications and measurement techniques in the Suspension General Diagnosis section. It will give you the desired, and allowed range.

ok, you might be a dick, but you called this right. The FSM (section 3-3) says trim height Z is 6.0 +/- .20 in, and D height is 6.7 +/- .47 in. so looks like you have a tolerance of less than 1/2" to be 'in spec'.
For others, reference the FSM page 3-3 for Trim Heights, if the stealer says 'in spec' then anything over 1/2" is BS (f5, can you concur?).

Mine leans left all the time now even with the tank almost empty and no one in the H3.

Staying on the issue. This needs to be fixed.
I'm looking forward to Phil H.'s results. If the new springs fix the issue, I will do the same.
To me, the lean is very noticable, and should be able to be corrected. Also knowing that all H3's don't have this issue, it CAN be corrected. It takes away from an otherwise great vehicle.
I have logged the issue with Hummer Customer Service and with the dealer twice (Armen Hummer). Maybe at some point a TSB will be released on the issue.

Re: Staying on the issue. This needs to be fixed.
I gotta bring this up with the dealer but have not had any other reason to go back to the dealer so far (4300+ miles so far). Someone came into my office a couple days ago to tell me it looked like my left front tire was going flat - it leans that much.

Re: H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
Has anyone found a fix to to this problem? I have the same issue, here is the link to my thread.
http://www.elcovaforums.com/forums/s...eferrerid=5713
I think it may be a problem with the front torsion bar adjustment. With the left front too low the right front would rise up and make the left read look to low. I doubt this issue has anythign to do with weight. The gas tank level has made no difference, and whenever i insoect the vehicle no one is inside of it. This seems like a common problem that is going unnoticed as I have seen several H3 in parking lots that have the same issue.

Re: H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
I had the same issue with a Chevy truck I bought new a few years back. The service dept. said it was a suspension thing??? They never fixed it, just bought the truck back from me due to many other unresolved issues.
Good luck

Re: H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
I also think this has something to do with the torsion bars. Before the adjustment, my H3 also leaned to the left. The gas tank level did nothing for the issue. After I had the bars adjusted for height in the front, the garage (not a GM garage but one that specilizes in alignments) indicated that they felt the aligment was off from the factory. The garage spent an hour and half tuning, retuning, and fine tuning (only charged me for an hour) the alignment. It is now within a 1/2" of being perfectly level at all four corners and does not have a noticeable lean to the left like it did. And I believe the ride quality is a lot better, with less front end sway, especially in corners and curves.
Just an afterthought - could this problem be caused by the trucks being winched down to the cargo trains and tractor trailers for delivery to the dealerships?

My Yellow one leans and the Gray does not so I just park the Yellow Duck on an incline...

Re: H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
With some of the other issues I've had with my H3, I've never had this one. (Don't want to either ... ) Is it enough of a tilt that makes you think you have a slow leak when approaching the truck? I've never noticed a lean on others, but then again, maybe they've been parked on a slant.

Re: H3 Lean to Left... Service - once again
you can correct it by adjusting your tortion bar on that side.
