Default Noisy Nav unit

the Factory Nav unit on my 2005 H2 keeps making noise when the Nav CD is inserted. The unit works fine (displays map), but the unit makes a noise like the hard drive is continually accessing the nav disc.

Is this normal, or is it supposed to be quite.

thanks in advance

This is what GM calls normal. I had one complete Nav unit replaced because of the noise issue and one unit that was considered acceptable.

Any interior noise or rattle is an immediate distraction for me......turn your radio up!

Thanks, I'll run it by the service advisor, its worth a shot.

Sorry, I meant "CD drive", not "hard drive".

You can probably hear something going on in the unit when you open your door to get in, without even putting the key in the ignition.

I had one replaced because a fan in the unit was running all the time and drained the battery.

Mine is noisy also. Dealer tells me this is normal. Sounds like crap.

Cheap SUV. He says, what do you want....
