does anyone know if i need to replace a sensor or if i have a more serious problem? my H2 runs rough at idle and goes up and down from 400rpm to 600rpm. it even stalls sometimes at takeoff

Re: problem...H2 stalling
just drove the H2 again and it seems that it only does it when the truck is in gear...it actually idles just fine as long as the truck is sitting in park but once i shift into any gear, it seems to drop in RPMs and feels like it's going to stall until i give it gas...once the truck is going, everything seems normal.

Re: problem...H2 stalling
How many miles, My thought are maybe spark plug wires or maybe plugs themselves. My other thought is that the Throttle positioning sensor could be faulty, and my final thought is that the ECU I belive controls the rpm at idle and if you have a new ECU or new programmer hooked up to the car it could have changed the Idle RPM. Mine will also idle around 600 rpm and when cold will sometimes run choppy and drop to 400 but I belive it is a big part because of wires and plugs. I am at 88,888 miles!
Thanks

It has about 68,000 miles on it...i"m thinking throttle position sensor as well. however, i drove it again last night and it seemed to be fine with no problems...i'm going to clean the MAF sensor one more time and clean my air filter today and see what it does after that.

Re: problem...H2 stalling
Question, Did you change the air filter or did you clean the filter. If you cleaned the filter then it is possible that oil from the filter has contaminated the MAF, but I dought it. I am researching new wires and plugs now and will order asap but unsure who to go with. I have seen from the site here that I should either be getting MSD, Taylor, or the new Nology hot wires. I have heard you should plan on changing the wires and plugs every 70,000 to 100,000 miles, but then again I have heard that some change them every 25,000 miles. I hope the MAF cleaning works for you and if it does then great but I am going to try the new plugs and wires and let you know.
thanks

Re: problem...H2 stalling
ok guys, i went to NAPA auto parts and got a can of CRC MAF sensor cleaner and i cleaned the MAF sensor again...i also cleaned my air filter...the H2 seems to be running just fine right now and it actually feels like it's pulling a lil stronger than it was.
