![]() I have an '06 SUT. I want to paint the rear plastic bumper cover. Does anyone know how this is attached. Looking through prior posts it sounds like it may be held on by those plastic clips. If so, will they break when removed?

Not held on by the clips. I had to remove the rear pan, then loosen the two rods underneath to allow the bumper to swing out. Then I was able to fit my hand between the bumper and the truck to finalize removal by unbolting. Also have to remove the rear tows if I remember correctly. |

![]() Is that to remove the metal bumper or the plastic cover on top? I'm trying to remove the plastic cover on top.

![]() To remove the plastic bumper cover there are 12 plastic clips. 6 on top and 6 on the bottom. You can feel the top one's if you squeeze your fingers through the gap between the bed and bumper cover. The bottom one's are in the same locations just at the bottom where it attaches to the metal part of the bumper. I used a snap on door panel remover tool and it worked great. (only broke one clip :-() They are on there TIGHT!!! so use care.
