I posted the answer to this on the previous forum. PEP boys has a standard locking gas cap made by STANT. Looks like a BIG black gear, looks great. The diameter of the threaded part is 1.5" and the threads are about .25" apart. First one I picked worked. Cost $16.00. Amy, do you have the part number I posted?

I am still looking for Stant 11589 Locking gas cap. Went to 4 auto supply stores, everyone had 60-80 gas caps, but no 11589. Will keep on trying.
About 20 years ago, a friend of mine was in a meeting with us during the evening, our cars were in an underground garage in the office building, someone put several paper packs of sugar in his gas tank, same type as in coffee shops. Just slipped them in. Messed up his engine big time. Based on the circumstances that evening, it must have been done by someone he knew and works in the same building. Hummer could be a prime target.

Any body seen the SMA "aluminum locking fuel door"? Is it a gas cap or a flip out door? That's the question. It says sold out on the SMA web site:

When they lised it on SMA's website and being sold out, it's their way of saying that's it's not ready for distribution yet.

I just bought the Stant locking gas cap listed above (but is is silver with red lettering, same part number though) and it doesn't fit well at all. Hard to lock on. Very hard to open. Wobbles around. I can't believe Hummer doesn't have a locking gas cap available.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=1875279073

From the seller:
The door piece attaches using 12 screws that are inserted into the back side of the metal trim ring and around the outside edge of the black plastic trim bezel that is already on your truck. There are no holes to drill and no
damage to your vehicle. The door can be removed at any time and returned to stock. You WILL NOT however want to take it off because it really looks great on the truck. The only tools you will need to install this item is a 9/32 nut driver and a phllips head screw driver. The bolt heads you see in the picture are for cosmetic purposes only and do not secure the
door.

The door is secured shut with a magnetic pressure switch. To open, just press on the left side of the door and it pops open. To close, just close the door and press shut. This will reset the locking mechanism in the locked
position.

The door is highly polished and looks great on any color H2.

Doesn't look like that one locks though, which is the reason for getting one, at least for me.

Hummerdogg, those lenear Pro-fit gas doors are super nice, especially if I can see it in motion. If I have it, I would be eager to buy gas as often as I can. Do you have it yet? if yes, details please.

I sent e-mail inquiry to Pro-Fit asking about custom fitting their fuel door to our H2.
I got a reply stating, that my request was the first one and they would only consider it, if they would get more "orders".
How many/much and pricing is not deliberated yet.
I suggest, if you're interested in Pro-Fit's cool fuel-door, to send in a request. Do not order yet.
I also sent for quotation for SMA's LOCKING fuel door to PT-King.
As soon as I know more, I'll post.

MAC-

I apologize for not responding back to you. I had forgotten I had posted that. Anyways, to answer your question, no I don't have the fuel door. I still don't have my H2 but hope to get it by the second quarter of 2003.

Thanks.

There are several Hummer fuel doors for sale on eBay now, they look nice close up, but don't look as nice overall. Seems a bit too big & over-powering.

MAC, thanks for posting the pic. Now that I see it on the H2 I'm sticking with my locking gas cap - thanks to all for posting the Stant number.
