I just installed the OEM bars last night. Very solid as Tim said, and I've seen them in action.
His write-up was very helpful but they're still a PITA to install by yourself. 
BTW. I got my dealer to swap out my steps for the rails. Connections = good. 
But it couldn't hurt to ask.
