They attach to the door and swing up with it, not independently.

Is there any drilling into the bodywork to mount them? Do you know about how much they each weigh? Thanks bro....Jamie

Yeah, Jamie, I think one new hole up top and uses another existing one. I think the bottom clamps onto the lower door flange. Check GOBI USA website. They usually are good about posting installation pdf files BEFORE you buy.
Adam has since added 2 H2O racks to his rear corners. I know nothing about the installation, but it sure looks like high quality stuff. You could PM Adam in CO. He's good people.
