Would you say getting a set of Cooper STT siped would give you near BFG AT performance in winter driving but all the benefits of an MT with deep snow etc.

I am driving myself nuts right now deciding between 37 BFG AT or 37 Cooper STT because my truck is my daily driver as well. I am bored of BFG AT's however I dont want to shot myself in foot with winter driving on STTs

I'm on my second set of Cooper STTs on my SUT.

37x12.5 on OEM wheels.

Can't say enough good things about them. They don't bother the air suspension sensors, they're fairly quiet for an MT and they kick ass in the snow. I don't know what kind of snow you get, but I've had no problems AT ALL in 12"-18" snow....zero problems.

We get everything from all ice to 12-18 inches in one snow, I used to live more in snow belt on east side of Cleveland but am more south now. My orginal bfg at have about half tread and I couldnt believe how bad they sucked this week when it snowed here. I have never had mt TC work so much. I was ticked off. I know the 37 bfg at have same tread depth so when I hit about half tread they'll prob suck ass too. I loved them when brand new.

I had the same experience with the BFG AT, nice tire...when there's plenty of tread. I didn't like them in the mud though, they didn't self-clean worth a crap.

I can't tell you the STT is great on ice...I haven't found any tire that it.

Oh yeah I agree! I think with adding extra siping if you wanted, the stt would have to be one of the best tires for an H2

REGARDING SIPING: How often do you have to have them siped? I assume it depends on your tire's wear.

REGARDING COOPERS: Uh, isn't that the Sears' brand of tires? I'll give it to Sears as far as Craftsman tools are concerned...but tires? I've gotta stick with BFG.

Chains arrived today...they'll come in handy at some point. So, I'll just include them in my 'winter kit.'

Going to look into siping for general winter season driving.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback/input on this.
